Grace I AM #2
Once we know we’re just like Jesus (don’t worry if you’re not quite there yet…Grace will reveal and confirm it to you!) Then it’s imperative that we know what Jesus is really like!
Jesus told all the people of his day (especially religious people) that “Not a single one of you know my Father or me!”
To my great embarrassment, after twenty years of being a pastor, I found out that was true about me! I knew some things I thought were true about God, but not only did I not know God, most of the things I thought were true about God weren’t true at all! I’ve been ecstatic ever since to see that the negative ideas I had about “god” were polar opposites of what The Only True God is like! Whew!
So, where do we start in knowing and experiencing God and discerning the difference between The Only True God, as Jesus calls the Father, and the false, perverted perception of an angry, punitive, distant, aloof, list-keeping, retributive “god” of religion?
We start with the primary essence of God— as revealed to us by Jesus’ closest friend, John, who tells us “We have come to know and believe the love that God has unveiled within us. God is love. Love is who God is; to live in this place of conscious, constant love, is to live immersed in God and to feel perfectly at home in his indwelling. Love never brings fear, for fear is always related to punishment. But love’s perfection drives the fear of punishment far from our hearts. Whoever walks constantly afraid of punishment has not reached love’s perfection.”
Take a few minutes in your secret place with your primary Teammates, Jesus, Papa, and Grace, and say (out loud if you can) several times slowly, “I am Just Like Jesus Is, I Am Perfect Love!”
